The post clearly notes:
It’s unclear at this point whether the community-level data will be released at a later date...

That was only written because of Statscan's refusal to confirm. The fact it could neither confirm if the community-level data would be released at all before nor after the first topic release speaks for itself.

The signs seem more obvious than ominous. Statscan suppressed nearly two thousand CSDs and has acknowledged that some of the data released at the national level (citizenship / immigration) was suspect - which apparently didn't stop major Canadian news outlets from headlining it.

A more comprehensive independent survey at the CSD or any higher level of geography will likely never be conducted. The same can't be said at the community level. Any small, conscientious community could conduct its own local survey, compare it to the CT or DA data for that same community from 2011 NHS, find it nowhere near accurate and end up undermining Statscan's credibility. This was suggested in the December 6, 2012 post as among the likely internal considerations in deciding whether to release or suppress the 2011 NHS community-level data.

Thanks,

I've called and was given that same answer. Although I think you might be jumping the gun by suggesting fairly strongly that it won't be released period, I agree the signs are pretty ominous.

Thanks for the question.

Statscan's been unusually unforthcoming. The vague reply it sent to a community org question asking whether the data would be released at all (quoted in the December 6, 2012 post) is a good example.

If your question is whether Statscan usually delays the release of detailed data until after the initial release date, your answer can be found in the equivalent of the May 8, 2013 NHS release, the December 7, 2007 long-form Census release. The census tract data for that 2006 Census release was available on the release date, the dissemination area data (re)released on January 9, 2008.

If you ask Statscan today to provide you with a definitive answer as to whether and when the CT and/or DA data will be released for the 2011 NHS, you will get the same answer that community org received back in November 2012.

Hopefully that answers your question.
